Renaissance Dental will be expanding its standard dental insurance package starting Jan. 1, 2008.
Like many other dental carriers, Renaissance, a unit of Renaissance Health Service Corp., Okemos, Mich., will be providing extra cleanings and periodontal cleanings for members with gum disease who are pregnant or suffer from conditions such as heart disease.
Renaissance also will provide coverage for extra services for individuals with kidney failure and those who have suppressed immune systems due to chemotherapy, radiation treatment, HIV infection, transplants or stem-cell transplants.
Because a common side effect of head and neck radiation is an increase in cavities, individuals undergoing head and neck radiation will receive coverage for two fluoride treatments per year as well as four cleanings per year, Renaissance says.
