A reinsurer is giving a well-known division more responsibility.

General Re Life Corp., Stamford, Conn., a unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Omaha, Neb., says JHA, Portland, Maine, now will manage the unit’s group life and accidental death and dismemberment reinsurance business in North America.

JHA has been managing the group and individual disability reinsurance businesses since it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Gen Re in July 2001, according to Gen Re.

JHA now will be marketing both disability and group life products under the JHA brand, Gen Re says.

JHA has attracted attention to its operations by organizing annual disability insurance conferences.
