The distribution arm of a large mutual insurer is strongly encouraging financial representatives to join the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

The Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, an affiliate of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Milwaukee, will be reimbursing reps for the national portion of NAIFA membership dues, according to NAIFA, Falls Church, Va.

“Our industry is under constant threat and Northwestern Mutual recognizes that a strong NAIFA means a strong industry,” NAIFA President Jeffrey Taggart says in a statement about Northwestern’s support for NAIFA. “By supporting NAIFA in its efforts, Northwestern Mutual is showing its dedication to fighting off harmful legislation.”

NAIFA says its 770 state and local associations represent the business interests of 225,000 members.
