Habersham Funding L.L.C. is expanding into the Empire State.

Habersham, Atlanta, has received a license to do business as a viatical settlement provider in New York, the firm says.

Habersham now has the ability to buy life insurance policies through life settlement arrangements with older policyholders in the District of Columbia, most U.S. territories and all states other than Alaska and Florida, the firm says.

M. Bryan Freeman, one of the founders of the modern life settlement industry, started Habersham in 2001.
