A financial services company is trying to draw attention to the services it can offer parents with children who suffer from mental disabilities or severe physical disabilities.

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, notes that it offers a continuing education on the topic for financial professionals and many estate planners, business planners and others who are familiar with the topic.

Families that do not first consult with specialists in the special needs planning area before writing wills or naming children as beneficiaries of life insurance policies may find that they have inadvertently disqualified the children from receiving government-sponsored benefits, Hartford says.
