The Nebraska Department of Insurance has set up an information-sharing agreement with the Bundesanstalt fur Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, the German insurance regulatory agency.

The agreement will enable the Nebraska department German agency, known as “BaFin,” to exchange information on a confidential basis.

The agreement is the second of its kind that BaFin has entered into with a U.S. state insurance department, according to the Nebraska department.

The Nebraska department expects the agreement to be a model for international financial solvency regulatory cooperation between states and European Union insurance regulators, the department says.
