Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company is introducing a worksite product designed for workers who lack major medical coverage and need help paying for routine care.

The group policy, Colonial Health Advantage, is a group limited benefit-hospital confinement indemnity and accidental death and dismemberment plan, according to Colonial, part of the Unum Group, Columbia, S.C.

In Georgia and Texas, Colonial sells the product as a hospital confinement indemnity plan.

The plan offers fixed benefit amounts for inpatient hospital stays, doctor’s office visits, outpatient diagnostic and lab tests, surgery, and prescription drugs.

Colonial is selling 8 versions of the Health Advantage product. Each version comes with different combinations of coverage and benefit levels.

Employers also can add a critical illness benefit or other supplement insurance products to their plan, Colonial says.
