Michigan Commissioner To Join Accounting Firm

Linda Watters is leaving her post as commissioner of the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services.

Watters, who has been the Michigan insurance commissioner since April 2003, will be taking a job in the financial risk management practice in the Chicago office of KPMG L.L.P., an accounting firm.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, has appointed Ken Ross to be acting commissioner of OFIS.

Ross, deputy commissioner for policy at OFIS, has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Before joining OFIS, Ross was a vice president for regulatory and legal affairs at the Michigan Credit Union League, Plymouth, Mich.
