Beretta USA Corp. is offering active law enforcement officers who buy its Px4 Storm pistol a $10,000 line-of-duty death benefit.

Beretta, Accokeek, Md., says the coverage, known as Project Allegiance, will be valid for 3 years, at no cost to the officer and his or her family.

The company is offering the coverage to local, state and federal law enforcement officers in the United States and its territories. The program does not require any medical exam and can be activated at the time of purchase.

Officers of law enforcement agencies that decide to issue Beretta Px4 Storm pistols also will qualify for the coverage, according to Beretta, a unit of Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta, Venice, Italy.
