Carriers Announce TRICARE Contracts

Health Net Inc. says its federal services division has worked with another company to win a TRICARE Region 5 health claim repricing contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Health Net, Woodland Hills, Calif., and Enterprise Technology Solutions L.L.C., Gaithersburg, Md., will begin implementing the 1-year contract Nov. 1.

The VA has an option to renew the contract for up to 4 more years, Health Net says.

TRICARE administers health care for military dependents, military retirees and active-duty personnel who are far from military and VA health care facilities.

Region 5 includes 10 Western states and parts of 3 Midwestern states.

In other TRICARE news, the military health care services arm of Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., has won a contract to provide daily operational support for the Fox Army Health Center at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Humana unit will be responsible for setting up appointments for more than 10,000 TRICARE plan members who want medical appointments at the Fox Army Health Center, Humana says.

The 1-year contract started Oct. 1. TRICARE administrators have an option to extend the contract for 12 months and a second option to extend the contract for 6 additional months, Humana says.
