The Social Investment Forum and the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility launched a Web site–www.SaveShareholderRights.org–to organize individual shareholders in opposition to SEC proposals to change its Rule 14a8 under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 that the groups say would diminish shareholder activism by limiting the right of shareholders to file advisory resolutions.
The Financial Planning Association will celebrate the sixth annual Financial Planning Week October 1-7, during which FPA staff and members conduct a number of events, including holding educational seminars, manning telephone hotlines, and making its members available for interviews with media, all meant to increase public awareness of the financial planning process.
