Hartford Puts Name On Basketball Event

An insurer has announced a new sports marketing arrangement.

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, is paying to change the name of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge to the Hartford Hall of Fame Showcase.

Game Seven Sports Marketing, Louisville, Ky., and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield, Mass., organize the annual 2-game basketball showcase. Revenue from the event helps support the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Organizers have scheduled the next showcase to take place Dec. 1 in Boston. One game will feature Gonzaga University and the University of Connecticut, and the other will pit Providence College against Boston College.

The showcase is set to move to Indianapolis in 2008, and to Charlotte, N.C., in 2009.
