Jeffrey Taggart has succeeded John Davidson as president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

NAIFA, Falls Church, Va., and its 800 state and local affiliates represent 225,000 advisors.

Taggart works in Cody, Wyo., as a general agent for Union Central Life Insurance Company.

Other 2007-2008 NAIFA officers include Cliff Wilson, president-elect; Tom Currey, secretary; and Peter Browne, treasurer.

NAIFA elected the officers at its recent annual convention in Washington.

In addition to electing officers, NAIFA moved to increase dues $49 per year to pay for a new marketing campaign, expand networking and resource programs, and improve lobbying and grassroots lobbying efforts.

During the convention, NAIFA members went to Capitol Hill to defend the insurance industry’s current antitrust exemption, NAIFA says.

NAIFA members also asked lawmakers to tell the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to preserve fund managers’ ability to compensate advisors using asset-based 12b-1 distribution fees.
