The Virginia Special Advisory Commission on Mandated Health Insurance Benefits will meet at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 in Richmond, Va., to consider proposed benefits mandates.

The commission will vote on a proposal that would require coverage for second opinions for primary malignant brain tumors at National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer centers, officials say.

The commission also will vote on proposals to repeal a requirement that health carriers offer patients with breast cancer coverage for dose-intensive chemotherapy along with autologous bone marrow and stem cell transplants.

The commission will hold hearings on proposals that require coverage for human papilloma virus vaccinations and prosthetic devices and components.

Information about attending and participating in the commission meeting is available
