Health insurance may change, but it probably will continue to exist.

Members of the National Association of Health Underwriters, Arlington, Va., made that prediction in answers to the latest annual NAHU benefits buying trends survey.

About 1,500 agents, brokers and carrier representatives participated in the survey.

More than 68% expect the federal government to require employers to provide health coverage through existing health plan arrangements, NAHU researchers report.

But few believe the United States will adopt a government-run, “single-payer” health finance system, and only 31% believe individuals will replace employers as the primary health benefits decisionmakers, according to NAHU researchers.
