A managed care company has chosen a global emergency medical assistance vendor.

Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., will be buying travel medical assistance services for its members from Assist America Inc., Princeton, N.J., according to Assist America.

Services included in the agreement include medical referral and monitoring service, emergency medical evacuations, medical repatriations, hospital admission guarantees, and compassionate visit transportation.

The services will be available to fully insured Humana plan members and dependents who are more than 100 miles from home, Assist America says.

Assist America already is the travel medical services vendor for Humana’s unit in Puerto Rico.
