The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has agreed to let Universal American Financial Corp. resume selling Medicare Advantage private fee-for-service plans.
Universal American, Rye Brook, N.Y., was one of the 7 carriers that agreed in June to CMS’s request to suspend selling private Medicare Advantage coverage.
CMS called for the halt after it received 2,700 complaints about deceptive sales practices for private FFS Medicare Advantage plans between December 2006 and April 2007.
