Regulators are asking for more public comments about a proposed UnitedHealth Group Inc. acquisition.

The Nevada Division of Insurance has scheduled 3 more public hearings on efforts by UnitedHealth, Minnetonka, Minn., to acquire Sierra Health Services Inc., Las Vegas, for $2.6 billion in cash.

Sierra provides or administers health coverage for 630,000 people.

The American Medical Association, Chicago, says completion of the deal without modification could give UnitedHealth a 78% share of the Nevada health maintenance organization market.

The Nevada division held the first hearing on the deal June 14th.

The division will hold the new hearings July 25th in Elko, Nev.; July 26th in Reno, Nev.; and July 27th in Las Vegas.
