An arm of a large insurer has revised a free booklet aimed at consumers who are considering long term care insurance.

The 25-page guide, “Long-Term Care Insurance: The Essentials,” explains terms related to long term care and provides information about the cost of long term care, financing mechanisms, policy types and policy selection criteria, according to the MetLife Mature Market Institute, Westport, Conn., an affiliate of MetLife Inc., New York.

The publication is not available in Vermont, and the institute notes that it has developed state-specific versions for Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and California.
