A unit of StanCorp Financial Group Inc. has introduced plans aimed at employers with fewer than 500 employees.

Standard Insurance Company, Portland, Ore., is rolling out the Basic LTD plan, a basic long-term disability insurance plan aimed at groups of employees with a relatively high risk of disability, such as retail workers.

A second plan, the Preferred Segment plan can provide coverage for small groups of highly compensated professionals, and a third plan, the Disability Employee Choice plan , can give employees the ability to choose between two or more coverage options, Standard says.

Standard also is introducing the Standard Select plan, a group disability plan that may be available to employers with as few as two employees.
