A managed care company has added more “convenient care” clinics to its provider network.

CIGNA HealthCare, Bloomfield, Conn., a unit of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, is allowing its members to use 53 Take Care Health Clinics.

The communities, owned by a unit of Walgreen Company, Deerfield, Ill., are in Chicago, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh.

Certified nurse practitioners at the clinics can provide vaccinations for patients 18 months and older and treat the patients for common conditions such as influenza and skin conditions.

CIGNA will offer the same level of coverage for Take Care clinic visits as for visits to a primary care physician, and the clinics can transmit prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy of the patient’s choice, CIGNA says.
