A managed care company has agreed to acquire a dental and vision benefits company.

Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., will be paying $360 million for CompBenefits Corp., Atlanta, Humana says.

Humana’s existing dental insurance operations provides or administers dental coverage for 1.5 million people.

CompBenefits provides ancillary benefits for 4.8 million people in 14,000 employer groups in 22 Southern and Midwestern states.

CompBenefits collected about $345 million in revenue in 2006.

Humana hopes to get the regulatory approvals it needs to complete the deal by Sept. 30.
