Employee benefit brokers accounted for 46% of worksite sales in 2006, according to Eastbridge Consulting Group Inc.

Career agents captured a 29% share of the market; classic worksite brokers, 12%; and worksite specialists, 8%. Occasional voluntary benefits producers accounted for 6% of sales, according to Eastbridge, Avon, Conn.

Although career agents ranked only second in terms of their share of sales in 2006, their share of sales increased from 26% in 2005, says Bonnie Brazzell, an Eastbridge vice president.

“This was largely driven by the fact that the two largest career agent companies both had double-digit sales increases,” Brazzell says.
