NAPFA has joined forces with fi360 and the Center of Fiduciary Excellence to give fee-only advisors who wish to provide advice to participants in company-sponsored retirement plans a new Web-based educational program that covers the ‘Fiduciary Adviser’ provision of the Pension Protection Act and delves into what’s required of financial professionals.

The online educational program is two hours, and is produced and hosted by Don Trone of fi360–or Fiduciary360, which coordinates the resources of the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies, Center for Fiduciary Studies, and Fiduciary Analytics–and Carlos Panksep of the Center of Fiduciary Excellence. The announcement of the program coincides with NAPFA’s release of its annual consumer education initiative–Focus on Fiduciary (

“fi360 and CEFEX have been working hard to bring a clearly defined set of fiduciary standards to the financial services industry for more than seven years,” said Don Trone, president of fi360, in a statement. “By working with NAPFA to educate their members on the ‘Fiduciary Adviser’ provisions in the PPA, we believe they will be better prepared to work in the best interests of qualified retirement plan participants.”
