Stephanie Brown, 18, has won the 2007 Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship Award Program.
Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, New York, sponsors the scholarship contest, which recognizes teen-age girls who have demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurship.
Brown, who received a $10,000 scholarship, started Oakwood Universal 1, Centerport, N.Y., a student-run high school credit union.
The second prize winner, Jasmine Lawrence, 15, founded Eden BodyWorks, a line of all natural hair care products, and the third prize winner, Jillian Brown, 17, started a summer mini camp in Orlean, Va., that appeals to girls who are fans of the American Girl Doll Collection.
Lawrence received a $5,000 scholarship, and Jillian Brown received a $3,000 scholarship. Guardian also awarded 12 $1,000 scholarships.
