Mutual Of Omaha To Start Community Bank Network

Omaha Financial Holdings Inc. has agreed to acquire Peak National Bank.

Omaha Financial, a unit of Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company, Omaha, Neb., wants to open an Omaha-based bank, launch a full-service Internet bank, and make Peak National part of a network of Omaha Financial-owned community banks, according to Mutual of Omaha.

Peak National, Golden, Colo., was established in 1986 and now has 7 branches in suburban Denver and the Front Range foothills, according to Mutual of Omaha.

Mutual of Omaha is not disclosing the price of the deal, but it says it has no plans to make significant changes to Peak National's staff.

Mutual of Omaha hopes to close on the deal by the end of the year.
