Lori Richards, director of the SEC’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE), announced April 16 the release of an online compliance tool, called the AML Source Tool, to help broker/dealers comply with legal and regulatory requirements relating to anti-money laundering. The tool is available on the SEC’s Web site at www.sec.gov/about/offices/ocie/amlsourcetool.htm.

The FPA has a new partner in promoting its annual Financial Planning Week: The Wall Street Journal. A special advertising section will run in the October 6 issue of the Journal highlighting the value of financial planning. Topics to be covered include the financial planning process, how consumers can select a planner, and financial planning issues and trends. Financial Planning Week runs from October 1-7.

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and DHL Express have partnered to provide NAIFA members savings up to 25% when they ship with DHL.

The American Library Association and the NASD Investor Education Foundation are working together on a new grant program called “Smart Investing At Your Library” to help public libraries provide investor education. Up to 12 grants that range in size from $5,000 to $100,000, will be given to a select group of libraries, NASD said. The program will provide objective investor education materials to the libraries, and training for librarians.
