The health management arm of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company has agreed to acquire INTERxVENTUSA Inc.

The Nationwide Better Health unit of Nationwide, Columbus, Ohio, has been building a business that can assess employees’ health, help healthy employees stay well and manage the care of employees with health problems.

INTERxVENT, Savannah, Ga., is a company that sells services, such as health risk assessments, health coaching and educational courses focusing on nutrition, physical activity, weight management, stress management and tobacco cessation, Nationwide says.

The price of the deal was not released, but Nationwide says it has been using INTERxVENT services for about a year.

Dr. Neil Gordon, president of INTERxVENT, will become Nationwide Better Health’s chief medical and science officer, Nationwide says.

Nationwide reports the health management unit recently closed on another acquisition, of WellCorp, Solon, Ohio, a company that sells health management services and on-site employee health services.
