The South Dakota Division of Insurance says it is starting to set up a long term care partnership program for South Dakota.

Congress recently enacted a law authorizing expansion of LTC partnership arrangements, which permit states to coordinate private LTC insurance benefits with state Medicaid benefits.

The South Dakota Insurance Division is working with the state Department of Social Services and a working group made of lawmakers and members of various interest groups to design the partnership program, division officials report in their spring newsletter.

The division and the state Social Services Department plan to issue notices of LTC program administrative rules hearings this month, and they hope to have the partnership program up and running by July 1, officials say.
