The Life Insurance Finance Association has scheduled a Web seminar to explain why it dislikes the approach the National Association of Insurance Commissioners has been taking to updating the Viatical Settlements Model Act.
LIFA, Atlanta, plans to hold the Webinar at 10 a.m. April 17 Pacific Daylight Time.
Topics will include NAIC model revision efforts and efforts by the National Conference of Insurance Legislators, Troy, N.Y., to review its own viatical settlements model, LIFA says.
LIFA fears that attempts by the NAIC, Kansas City, Mo., to root out abusive “stranger-owned” life insurance arrangements may prohibit or severely limit legitimate life insurance premium-finance transactions, the group says.
