Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield says the company that manages its members’ mental health care has located a computer disk containing some members’ personal health information.

Empire, New York, a unit of WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, notified members last week that a shipping company had lost track of a package containing the disk.

Empire’s mental health services manager, a unit of Magellan Health Services Inc., Avon, Conn., says it now has located the disk, Empire says.

A data services company that works for Magellan created and shipped the disk, Empire says.

From now on, Magellan will transmit personal health information only through a secure network, eliminating the use of disks and the use of a delivery service, Empire says.
