Humana Inc. is offering a 3-year package of health insurance plans for small businesses in Illinois that promises to cap annual premium increases at 6%.

The package consists of a series of new health insurance packages intended to ease rising health insurance costs, according to Humana, Chicago.

Dubbed No Worry, the packages offer predictable health care expenditures over a 3-year period to businesses with 51-99 employees. The plans are aimed at converting passive health care users into informed consumers who actively participate in cost-control efforts, according to Humana.

Under No Worry, employers can select 1 of 28 packages, each presenting different combinations of benefits for each of the 3 years of the package.

Each package offers help and tools leading employees “toward increased consumer engagement” in their health care, Humana says.

Humana guarantees to companies buying the packages that their annual health care premium rate increase will not exceed 6% for the 2 subsequent years. Employers can qualify for a 4.5% rate cap in the second and third years by adding dental coverage and meeting other requirements, such as having at least 90% of employees complete a health assessment.

In addition, employers can add dental or life insurance to their No Worry package, and Humana will guarantee that the annual rate increase for dental would not exceed 2.9% in years 2 and 3, and there would be no increase for basic life insurance in the second and third years.
