Personnel Changes: Hartford, HSBC, Others

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has appointed John Keenan to be senior vice president and director of sales and distribution for the individual life division.

Keenan previously was vice president of life insurance sales at Nationwide Financial Services Inc., Columbus, Ohio. He led wirehouse, bank and brokerage distribution.

Keenan has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He and holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant professional designations.

In other personnel news:

- HSBC Insurance Services, Bridgewater, N.J., a unit of HSBC Holdings P.L.C., London, has promoted Richard Klesse to be managing director of insurance sales and business development, and it has hired Mitchell Katcher to be group director for product development and marketing.

Klesse previously was a managing director at HSBC Retail Services, where he managed business partner activities for the private-label credit card business.

Klesse has a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration from Rutgers University.

Katcher has been a senior vice president for life and annuity product development at a life insurance unit of Phoenix Companies Inc., Hartford.

Katcher has a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the College of Insurance.

- Centene Corp., St. Louis, has hired Keith Williamson to be senior vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel, and it has hired Patricia Liebman to be plan president for Managed Health Services, its Indiana subsidiary.

Centene manages Medicaid health plans and other government health plans.

Williamson previously was president of the capital services division at Pitney Bowes Inc., Stamford, Conn.

Williamson has a bachelor’s degree from Brown University, a law degree and a master’s degree in business from Harvard University, and a master of laws degree from New York University.

Liebman, who will be based in Indianapolis, is a past president of the UPMC Health Plan of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Liebman has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from LaRoche College and a nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
