Scientists at the University of Miami will be working with a managed care company to improve efforts to prevent and manage chronic medical conditions.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are backing an effort by health services researchers at the university to use mobile telephone systems, voice-activated response systems, and other efforts to screen for health problems and intervene when necessary, according to Humana Inc., Louisville.

The scientists are conducting the study, which will draw on Humana claims data, to strengthen the CDC’s workforce wellness initiative, Humana says.
