Managers of the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation says it has raised a total of $575,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.

The foundation, an affiliate of the Million Dollar Round Table, Park Ridge, Ill., received contributions ranging from $5 to $50,000 from 600 individuals and organizations, foundation officials report.

The total includes a $50,000 match from the MDRT Foundation and a $50,000 contribution from MDRT, officials say.

The foundation has awarded $300,000 to Habitat for Humanity International, Americus, Ga.; $100,000 to the American Red Cross, Washington; and $175,000 to the Salvation Army,

In other philanthropic news:

- A foundation affiliated with New York Life Insurance Company, New York, has given a 3-year, $225,000 grant to Groundwork Inc., New York.

Groundwork will use the grant to expand an after-school program for middle school students.
