Where Will You Go From Here?

Here's a practical yet respectful way to honor those who died five years ago, while recalling and perhaps reviving the resolutions you made then.

On Monday morning, September 11, 2006, five years to the day after the horrific events of 9/11/01, consider taking some time to reflect on what you've done with your life over the intervening period, and how you would like to change it from now on. The questions below may help you to get started:

If you made resolutions or set goals for yourself after 9/11/01, did you achieve them to your satisfaction?

What did you want to accomplish but couldn't?

In another five years, what changes do you hope to see in yourself, in your relationship with your family or your circle of friends, and in your practice? What changes would you like to see in society?

Step by step, how can you make this happen? How long will it take? Using a timeline can help you stay focused, but be gentle with yourself if you need to amend the timeline as you go along.

Finally, how will you know if you have achieved your goal?
