Kansas has picked a local carrier, Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners, and a unit of WellPoint Inc. to run its Medicaid and children’s health insurance programs.
Children’s Mercy, Kansas City, Mo., will run health programs in northeast and southeast Kansas.
UniCare Health Plan of Kansas Inc., a unit of WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, will run Medicaid and children’s health programs throughout Kansas.
The programs have a total of 160,000 members.
Kansas has awarded each vendor a 1-year contract. The contract has two 1-year renewal options.
