WellPoint Inc. is introducing a new wellness, care management and care coordination program in the Southeast.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, Atlanta, launched the new 360 Health program in Georgia today.

WellPoint, Indianapolis, Georgia Blue’s parent company, reported last week that it has invested $100 million in developing the 360 Health program and supporting related pilot programs. The company says it hopes to use the system to improve communications with its 34 million health plan members.

Georgia Blue, the first WellPoint unit to have full access to the program, provides or administers health coverage for 3.1 million people.

The core of the system is an electronic patient health record that includes information from members along with information from claims, Georgia Blue says.

Members can get to the information from any computer with an Internet connection, and they can use the system to share health history information with doctors, Georgia Blue says.

The system also will include information about wellness programs for healthy members along with access to coaching, care coordination programs and other programs for members with health problems, Georgia Blue says.
