OptiCare Health Systems Inc. has agreed to get information about eye doctors and other providers from the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare.

OptiCare, Waterbury, Conn., is the first vision that has signed up for CAQH’s Universal Credentialing Service, according to CAQH, Washington.

The UCS, established in 2002, gives health plans a system for getting basic credentialing information from physicians and other care providers through a centralized database. The system helps save physicians tens of millions of dollars per year by cutting down on paperwork, CAQH says.
