Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America is trying to put out the welcome mat for a wider range of individual disability insurance prospects.

Berkshire, Pittsfield, Mass., says it will be upgrading the underwriting status of executives and owners in a number of high-growth industries, such as advertising, technology, manufacturing and transportation.

Berkshire, a unit of Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, New York, also will start offering true own-occupation coverage to age 65 for all medical and dental specialties recognized by the American Medical Association, Chicago, and the American Dental Association, Chicago, the company says.

The changes apply to Berkshire business disability insurance products as well as to ordinary individual disability products, Berkshire says.
