Lynn Hopewell, the distinguished financial planning pioneer and former chairman of The Monitor Group in Fairfax, Virginia, who had a fascinating life and career within and without the planning profession, passed away on March 28, 2006 (Bob Clark remembers Lynn in his column this month on page 79).

Vanguard said Robert Rands, 63, senior vice president at Wellington Management Company and portfolio manager for the Vanguard Morgan Growth Fund, will retire at the end of this year. n Pyramis Global Advisors, a unit of Fidelity Investments that serves institutional investors, named Young Chin as the organization’s first chief investment officer, completing the firm’s management leadership team under President Pete Smail.
