Trustmark Adds Dental Benefit Rollover Feature

A Midwestern insurer is expanding its menu of employee-paid group dental insurance products for employers with 100 or more employees.

Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions, a unit of Trustmark Mutual Holding Company, Lake Forest, Ill., is adding a new Passive PPO plan, 2 other preferred provider organization dental plans and a number of new plan features.

The Passive PPO plan offers access to network dentists who have agreed to accept Trustmark fees. If the amount an in-network dentist has billed a patient exceeds Trustmark’s estimate of what the amount should be, the dentist will not bill the patient for the difference, according to Trustmark.

One feature now available with all Trustmark dental plans is a rollover benefit.

Plan members with low dental bills can use the feature to roll a portion of the unused “maximum benefit” over to the next year.

Trustmark also has added a deductible carryover benefit. If insureds with the benefit satisfy some or all of their deductibles in the last 3 months of the plan year, that amount will be applied to toward the deductible for the next year, Trustmark says.
