The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies plans to start a 3-day Focus 2006 convention June 6 in New Orleans.

The convention, at the Sheraton New Orleans, will include an exhibition area along with a variety of life insurance, annuity and long term care insurance marketing workshops, organizers say.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has sent NAILBA a letter thanking the group for keeping the event in New Orleans despite the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

“We greatly appreciate the fact that NAILBA never seriously considered moving FOCUS elsewhere,” Nagin writes in the letter. “Your early re-commitment to New Orleans truly helped us begin our rebuilding efforts.”

Major cleancup in the French Quarters, the Central Business District, and the Arts and Entertainment District is completed, and more than 1,000 restaurants are already back in operation, with many more scheduled to reopen in the next few weeks, Nagin writes.
