Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. is scheduling more sessions of a 5-day group disability insurance education program for insurance producers and account managers.

The program, The Vault program, is carrier-independent, and it includes core courses on topics such as contracts and underwriting along with a variety of electives and interactive workshops, according to Hartford, Simsbury, Conn.

Hartford is planning to hold programs in May, October and November, and it is considering the possibility of offering a session in San Francisco, the company says.

So far, Hartford has been holding the sessions in Connecticut.

Most states will award up to 35 continuing education credits for program graduates, and students who complete the course can take a Group Benefits Disability Specialist designation exam that was developed by The National Underwriter Company, Erlanger, Ky., the company that publishes this Web site.

Participants receive a GBDS manual and may sit for the designation exam on the last day of the program, Hartford says.
