Temp Policies Can Last 36 Months

A unit of Independence Holding Company is backing a long-term, short-term health insurance plan.

Standard Security Life Insurance Company of New York, a subsidiary of IHC, Stamford, Conn., is the insurer behind the TriMed program, a new temporary medical insurance program managed by Insurers Administrative Corp., Phoenix.

Applicants who buy the coverage can extend the coverage for up to 3 12-month coverage periods, according to Insurers Administrative.

Insurers Administrative has received permission to sell the temporary policies to individuals and families in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wyoming and the District of Columbia.
