Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is introducing a low-cost, high-deductible insurance plan aimed at individuals in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
Anthem, a unit of WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, says the new Blue Access Value Plan will come with deductibles ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 and premiums as low as $40 per month for a healthy 25-year-old male.
But the plans will provide some coverage for preventive and diagnostic services, such as reimbursement for 2 physician office visits per year along with coverage for mammograms, pap smears and colorectal cancer screenings, Anthem says.
The policy is a major medical policy that can pay a lifetime maximum of $5 million in benefits.
