Independence Blue Gives To Nursing

A Keystone State health carrier is taking concrete steps to address a shortage of nurses in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Independence Blue Cross, Philadelphia, says it will be donating $5.75 million to the Independence Blue Nurse Scholars program between now and 2010 to support nursing program scholarships, nurse internship programs, and a nursing school faculty support program.

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation will contribute $3.75 million to the effort.
