A financial services company will be using an Oscar-nominated independent documentary to explain the importance of disability insurance.

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, is working with ThinkFilm Company Inc., New York, to create a special DVD version of “Murderball” that includes a 4-minute discussion of disability and disability insurance.

“Murderball” tells the story of the U.S. quadriplegic rugby team and its effort to win the 2004 Paralympic games.

During the 4-minute disability discussion, Murderball team players Scott Hogsett, Bob Lujano and Mark Zupan warn viewers that anyone can become disabled at any time, Hartford says.

The players also talk about the value of disability insurance.

Hartford says its group benefits sales representatives will be giving copies of the DVD to group disability agents. Group disability agents and employers will be encouraged to show the 4-minute disability discussion at benefits enrollment meetings, Hartford says.
