CIGNA HealthCare will be introducing a Web-based system that can help group health plan members in the Lone Star State set their own co-payments, coinsurance levels, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums.

CIGNA HealthCare, Bloomfield, Conn., a unit of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, announced earlier that it will start by offering the Web service through large, national employers in January 2007.

CIGNA HealthCare now says Texas employers with as few as 1,000 employees also will be able to adopt the program in 2007.

When workers use the CIGNA Custom Benefit Builder tool, the system will show workers how much the coverage will cost and give workers the ability to enroll for benefits, CIGNA HealthCare says.

CIGNA HealthCare is getting the technology for the tool from Choicelinx, Manchester, N.H., a CIGNA benefits technology subsidiary.
