A unit of WellPoint Inc. is trying to improve telephone service for members of its new Medicare prescription drug plan.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, part of WellPoint, Indianapolis, says it will be creating more than 120 customer service representative positions and setting up a new senior services call center in Denver, to supplement an existing call center in California.

The new call center will try to reduce waiting times for Medicare Part D prescription drug plan members who have questions about their coverage, Anthem says.

Anthem says it will be filling the call center positions in 3 waves and starting training in May.
